How Pixel Drift works

The reference supplies every color. The target supplies a pattern of light and dark. A local search swaps nearby pixels while respecting the travel limit. It finds an approximate arrangement, not a globally optimal one.

The preview preserves every working pixel at both endpoints. Pixels may overlap in motion. GIF export uses a shared palette of up to 256 colors and plays forward and back.
